Created in 1993 as the "Special Crimes Unit," the St. Joseph County Metro Homicide Unit (CMHU) was reorganized under Prosecutor Michael Dvorak in January 2003. From then until its disbandment in 2021, the CMHU investigated 365 homicides and solved 78%, making it a highly successful unit.
