In an effort to position the New Carlisle Economic Development Area (NCEDA) to be a useful resource to facilitate development activities in the Indiana Enterprise Center area, the St. Joseph County Redevelopment Commission is seeking to update and restructure the NCEDA and the related development plan.
The NCEDA was originally established in 1987 to assist with the development of infrastructure to support the I/N TEK project. The area was expanded in 1997 to nearly 4,000 acres to facilitate additional industrial development projects proposed for the industrial area. In 2008, the development plan for the area was updated to designate I/N TEK, I/N Kote and Air Gas as designated taxpayers which allowed personal property at the site to be collected to support projects "in or serving" the development area. In 2016, the area was again expanded to 5,426 acres and the NCEDA was divided into two allocation areas.
The goal of the present amendment is to do the following: Divide the two existing allocation areas into four allocation area Modify the boundaries of the NCEDA Add all properties within the NCEDA to the acquisition list
