What is GIS?

Geographic Information System (GIS) is a computer-based tool used to map and analyze data in ways that is not possible by simply reading a report or examining a spreadsheet. Nearly all-county government information has a geographic component to it. GIS consolidates and integrates all of this information so that it can be managed more effectively and efficiently.
