Juvenile's Rights

As early as 1967, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that juveniles have certain constitutional rights in court proceedings (In re Gault, 387 U.S. 1 (1967)). In order to make sure that juveniles and families we serve are familiar with those rights the Juvenile Justice Center has produced a video for all juveniles and families to review prior to court. All juveniles in detention are required to review the video prior to appearing in court. Additionally, the video plays in the lobby of the JJC, so juveniles who have not been detained and their families can view it prior to the hearing.
